Hello, Covid.

It’s our first time together.

A rare statement at this point in the pandemania.

So as I sit with my life inconveniently stalled,

worrying about people I’ve hugged or shared air with this past week,

I’m going to try to switch gears.

In the spirit of Ross Gay’s essays, I offer a list of today’s delights…

A February bloom on a Thanksgiving Cactus

A creamy ripe avocado smashed on perfect crumb sourdough bread.

A midday nap cuddled up with my Rosie girl.

Sweet texts from friends checking in and making me laugh-cough-laugh.

A husband willing to deliver the most indulgent takeout.

Heirloom seeds in my mailbox promising a garden of future delights.
