Talk about scenes that take your breath away. This Red-tailed Hawk enjoying a steamy, sunlit rooftop was why I became a photographer. Seeing a stunning moment, capturing it on camera, and sharing it with others is so satisfying.
As the hawk images were hands down my favorite shots of the year, I knew immediately the image to submit to the Flickr’s Your Best Shot 2021. It had already won my heart, but I was thrilled to have it featured on the “Explore” page on January 1st. A wonderful start to the year! “Hawk Spa” was also one of only 20 photographs selected for “Honorable Mention.” It feels amazing to see my work in such a gorgeous gallery.
Prints of “Hawk Spa” and one other of this fancy lady gazing at her feathers like Cinderella before the ball are available on Etsy.
While the last year has put some of our big travel dreams on hold, it has also offered a chance to look deeper at where we are. I know I am often compelled to take photos of every bridge I roam, but literally some of the best ones have been at home! Portland certainly holds true to its nickname: Bridge City.
This image of the Hawthorne Bridge has a place in my living room alongside iconic travel photos of Italy’s Ponte Vecchio, Bridge of Sighs, and Rialto Bridge. Now all of these favorite prints are also available in my Etsy shop. I have to say I was pretty thrilled that a recent customer shared my desire to be a tourist at home and is now displaying the Hawthorne Bridge in an impressive 20×30 right in Portland.
Travel photography triggers our nostalgia and fuels our wanderlust. I recently took a trip down memory lane courtesy of my Italy photo galleries. My first European adventure, a tour through Florence and Venice, was brought vividly back to life.
After I swooned and reminisced, I decided it was time to put my favorite images out into the universe. I am thrilled to offer my best Italy portraits in a new Etsy print collection. My hope is that my work inspires travelers to put Italy firmly at the top of their bucket lists. And if you are lucky enough to have roamed Tuscany and the canals of Venice, may these prints rekindle magical memories from past adventures.
I have been a frequent shopper on Etsy, but the platform is basically new for me as a contributor. I’d love input or suggestions in the comments below. What products and materials would like to see? Digital downloads for DIY projects? I made my own 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle through Shutterfly with a Venice at night image. All that crazy sky and water made for a challenging quarantine project!
Would you prefer mounted and ready-to-hang prints so you just pick a size and a place on your wall. For my home, I print on lustre paper that is mounted on black gatorfoam. It’s modern, lightweight but sturdy, and gorgeous. Currently my Italy portraits in the AngieWindheimPhoto Etsy shop are available as archival prints in deep velvet matte, vibrant shimmery pearl, or the popular lustre.
